Additional Information
When I was 6, my mother took me to see a dentist (a family friend). He showed me all of his tools and how they worked. I thought this was the most wonderful job. I’d be able to help people and work on interesting projects. Since then, I have worked hard to establish myself as a dental leader. My extensive postgraduate training in sleep disorders, temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction, and headaches has enabled me to treat and relieve hundreds of patients across the country. As a member of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, I am constantly inspired to learn about the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry.
I graduated first in my class from New York University College of Dentistry. Then I was a Captain in the United States Army. Army Dental Corps I was sent to Vietnam and received the US Army Commendation medal.
I am a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and have completed over 2,500 postgraduate continuing education hours. I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Society, and the Southern Maryland Dental Society, and I have served on the state Peer Review Committee.
In 2012, I was recognized as one of “America’s Top Dentists.” My professional affiliations include the American Headache Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. In addition, I published an article in the journal of the American Headache Society (“Headache”) describing a successful treatment of a difficult case. Additionally, I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
I served as President of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity’s local chapter and as co-chairman of a section at the International convention. I was a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain from its inception. In addition, I was an extremely active member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
I have given lectures at Montgomery College’s Diabetes University on “Sleep Apnea and Diabetes” and “Diabetes and Periodontal Infection.” Veterans Administration Hospital, University of Maryland Headache Center, AO Dental Fraternity, Potomac Valley Dental Study Club, and Chevy Chase Millennium Study Club The following topics were discussed: dental occlusion, headaches, sleep medicine, and oral facial pain.
I enjoy traveling, running, reading, and playing racquetball. I have coached for Montgomery Soccer. I have held a variety of positions in the Montgomery County Swim League, ranging from timer to referee. I have served as president of our local civic association, on various committees for the local PTA, and as a volunteer at our local nursery school.
